Haemodialysis Centre
Haemodialysis is a way to remove the blood of toxins as well as the excessive salt and fluids through a dialysis machine. It helps to regulate the body chemistry balance such as potassium, sodium, and chloride and therefore keep blood pressure under control.

Haemodialysis is performed 3 times a week, with each session lasting about 4 hours, depending on the body size and medical condition.

Before and during dialysis, patients need to clean the skin covering the access before inserting the needles to avoid infection. Patients also need to observe for signs of infection, including redness, oozing of blood or pus, and swelling and heat. Patients must contact the nurse immediately if there is any problem with their fistula, graft or catheter.

Patients need to ensure that their blood is circulating and not clotting while on treatment. It is important to keep the catheter dry, even when taking a bath.

Putra Specialist Hospital Melaka Haemodialysis Centre has 35 units of dialysis machines. We operate two shifts from 7.00 am to 5.30 pm, 6 days a week including public holidays. After hours, our on-call team standby for any emergency cases.

We also cater for outstation visiting dialysis patients, but require prior notification and appointment.
